History
The Department for Transport requested Network Rail develop plans to build a new 6.5km rail link between the Great Western Main Line and London Heathrow Airport.
The Western Rail Link to Heathrow includes a 5km tunnel passing under Richings Park and Colnbrook and then merging with existing rail lines underground at Heathrow Terminal 5.
The proposed design means the section of Hollow Hill Lane that runs under Chequers Bridge, near Langley station, would need to permanently close.
The main construction work will take approximately five to six years to complete, including tunnelling.
Network Rail has undertaken to seek to minimise the effects of construction and of their vehicles on local communities.
