Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) applications

DBS applications are made online through Slough Borough Councils approved provider TaxiPlus. You must apply for an enhanced DBS certficate.  Any other type of DBS certificate (basic or standard) will be rejected and your application will not be processed.

DBS Update Service    

Enhanced DBS certificates must be registered for the DBS Update Service.  Certificates are invalid without the Update Service registration. 

Medicals

New applicants 

The medical form required to be completed by all new applicants is based the DVLA Group 2 medical requirements for the drivers of public service vehicles.  The form will be provided by the Licensing Team and should be completed at the GP surgery where the applicant is registered as a patient. 

Any medical form completed by a private GP practitioner, must be accompanied by a declaration from the GP stating that they have had full access to the applicants medical records. 

Additional information (e.g. Consultant referrals, Optitian reports) may be requested by the Licensing Team if an applicant is receiving ongoing or has had specialist medical treatment. 

Current licence holders

For current licence holders, medicals are required at the following intervals:

  • every 5 years from the age of 50 years old
  • every year, from the age of 65 years old.

The medical may be requsted within 3 months of the due date (this will usually coincide with your date of birth) or when your renewal is due.
