Condition of returned property
When a property is returned to the council, we expect it to be in a reasonable condition. We allow for wear and tear.
We reserve the right to charge you our costs for:
- fixing any damages to the property
- returning adaptations to their original state
- clearing belongings left in the property.
Returning a property after the tenant has passed away
We understand that loved ones may not be local and it's a difficult time. We are sympathetic about putting right and clearing the property.
Please make sure you have removed anything that you may want, especially:
- personal documents
- photos
- sentimental items.
In exceptional circumstances, we would consider charging the late tenant’s estate for significant damages or clearing belongings from the property. If belongings are left, we reserve the right to use any that could be given to other families. The rest will be disposed of.
