The building regulations explained
They are legal requirements which are laid down by Parliament and are supported by separate documents containing practical and technical guidance on compliance, which are known as Approved Documents.
The main purpose of Building Regulations is to ensure the health and safety of the persons in or about buildings.
It is the responsibility of the person carrying out the work to ensure that the provisions of the regulations are fully met.
Complying with the building regulations and obtaining planning permission are separate matters.
