Fly-tipping, fly-boarding and fly-posting

What is fly-tipping

Fly-tipping is the criminal offence of illegally dumping waste.

If you are caught fly-tipping you can be prosecuted. If a vehicle is used to fly-tip waste, both the driver and the vehicle owner can be prosecuted and the vehicle can be seized.

Fly-tipping on private land (e.g. in a front/rear garden) is the responsibility of the owner/occupier to remove and dispose of properly. We will take formal action against the land owner or occupier if fly-tipping is not removed and presents a risk to public health.

What is fly-boarding

Fly-boarding is where an estate or letting agent’s For Sale, Sold or Letting board is put in a property, or near to properties, but the Estate or Letting agent has no agreement with the property owner to sell or let on their behalf.

What is fly-posting

Fly-posting is the fixing of posters, or anything similar, to any surfaces which you do not have permission and planning consent (where necessary). It typically involves advertising anything from 'cash for cars' to music events.
