Statement of licensing policy

Consultation on Statement of Licensing Policy 2024-2029

The Licensing Act 2003 states that the Council must produce a Statement of Licensing Policy in relation to how it will deal with licensing functions within its role as the Licensing Authority for Slough Borough Council. Policy Statements were consulted on and adopted in 2004, 2007 and 2010, 2013 and 2019. The next statement after this 2024 edition will be in 2029.

This document includes information on how the Council will carry out its functions and deal with applications under the Licensing Act 2003.

This draft revised policy only reflects minor deletions, reformatting for clearer reference, deletion of reference to Safer Nightlife Guide, inclusion of new requirements implemented through the Business and Planning Act 2020 and Business and Planning Act 2020 (Pavement Licences) (Coronavirus) (Amendment) Regulations 2021, and inclusion of information about the Terrorism (Protection of premises) draft Bill, also known as Martyn’s Law.

The Council is obliged to consult on the adoption of the revised Statement of Licensing Policy and this consultation will run until 5pm on 03 October 2024. Responsible Authorities such as the police; premises licence holders or their representatives and members of the public are welcome to send in their views regarding the policy statement which can be found below.
