The Childcare Act provides a framework for service delivery of three key areas:
- Pre-birth to five services: provision and delivery of all early years services, requiring joint working to reduce inequalities, improve outcomes and narrow the gap (early years outcomes duties)
- Sufficiency and quality: enabling enough quality early education and childcare for children entitled to funded early education (aged two, three and four years) and childcare for children aged 0-14, or 18 for children with a disability. This will enable parents to take part in employment and employment-related activities (sufficiency duties)
- Information for families: Ensuring information for childcare providers and families, in order to meet the other childcare duties (information duties)
