Key Responsibilities

  •  Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons in English Language and English Literature, ensuring alignment with the Scheme of Work, Curriculum Overview and examination board requirements.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with varying abilities and learning styles.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and personal growth.
  • Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback to promote improvement.
  • Develop and implement engaging teaching strategies and resources to enhance student engagement and attainment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, develop interdisciplinary projects, and contribute to the overall success of the English department and school community.

Remit

  • To deliver outstanding teaching and learning experiences to classes and groups of students within the school, ensuring that all lessons are engaging, challenging, and aligned with the National Curriculum and examination board requirements.
  • To uphold the highest standards of professionalism and excellence in teaching and learning, making a positive and lasting impact on the lives of students and contributing to the overall success of Langley Hall Arts Academy.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and stakeholders regarding student progress, academic performance, and any concerns or opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

  •  Bachelor's degree in English Literature, English Language, or a related field (PGCE or equivalent certification preferred).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience teaching English Language and English Literature at Key Stages 3 and 4, with a strong track record of student achievement.
  • Experience preparing students for GCSE English examinations, familiarity with examination board specifications, and a thorough understanding of assessment criteria. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. 
  • A passion for education, a commitment to professional development, and a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of students.
