The Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education (SACRE) is responsible for the Locally Agreed Syllabus and takes a keen interest in all aspects of Religious Education (RE) in schools in Slough.
The role and responsibilities of SACRE are to:
- advise the authority on RE in accordance with the agreed syllabus
- monitor the provision and quality of RE taught in the local area
- consider and decide on applications made by any Slough school on whether it is appropriate for the requirement for Christian collective worship to apply for that school
- provide advice and support on the effective teaching of RE, such as choice of teaching material and the provision of teacher training
- consider and take any action in relation to a complaint on worship or religious education, as assigned by the local authority
- co-operate and meet with members of other SACREs in the area
- publish an annual report on its work and on actions taken by its representative groups
