Government approved redress scheme
Most lettings agents and property managers provide a good service. But there are a minority who offer a poor service and engage in unacceptable practices.
All lettings agents and property managers must join a government-approved redress scheme. There are two approved redress schemes:
Redress schemes provide independent bodies that tenants, landlords, leaseholders and freeholders can complain to.
The council enforces breaches of this rule. We can fine agents or property managers who should have joined the scheme but have not done so. Fines can be up to £5,000.
