Baylis Park is the most historic park in Slough. The park and the adjoining Godolphin Recreation Ground were part of the estate of Baylis House.
Baylis House was originally the home to Dean Hascard, the Dean of Eton College and, until the early twentieth century, the Duke of Leeds. The park and house went through a period of use as a school and a hotel before being purchased by Slough Urban District Council to create pleasant parkland.
The Council is currently applying for a Heritage Lottery Fund grant to restore the park, its pond and walled gardens to a high standard to reflect its heritage and to make fit for modern day use by the local communities who hold it in high regard.
