Launch of revamped local health and wellbeing service – Healthier Slough

Solutions 4 Health has again been awarded the contract to provide health and wellbeing services in Slough, starting from 1 April.

Having previously run Health and Wellbeing Slough, the same team will deliver some services already known to the community with some useful additions.

There is a brand-new website and a fresh new look, Healthier Slough website https://healthierslough.co.uk/ and residents can find out more or refer themselves for a huge variety of services from alcohol support to free health checks.

The new Healthier Slough service offers:

Information and self-help tools

  • Free health advice, online resources, and NHS-approved apps for tracking activity, diet, and mental wellbeing.

Preventing illness and raising awareness

  • Helping people reduce their risk of heart disease and diabetes through community events and health campaigns.

Free NHS health checks

  • Health checks for adults aged 40-74 and targeted heart health checks for younger adults in high-risk groups.
  • Early detection of health risks with advice on improving heart health.

Stop smoking support

  • One-on-one guidance, nicotine replacement options, and vaping products to help adults quit smoking.
  • Special support for people with mental health conditions and pregnant women.

Weight management

  • Personalised plans for losing weight with expert advice on diet and exercise.
  • Access to long-term support to help maintain a healthy weight.

Falls prevention for older adults

  • Strength and balance exercises, home safety checks, and referrals for extra support.
  • Helping older adults stay independent and prevent injuries.

Alcohol support

  • Free screenings and advice to help reduce alcohol intake and avoid health risks.
  • Digital tools and follow-up support for those looking to cut down or stop drinking altogether.

Community exercise programmes

  • Free or low-cost exercise sessions, tailored fitness plans, and social group activities to help people stay active.
