Seven council car parks have once again been awarded the Park Mark accreditation.
A Park Mark is awarded to parking facilities that have met the requirements of a risk assessment conducted by the police, meaning the operator has put in place measures that deter criminal activity and anti-social behaviour.
Assessment takes into consideration quality management, appropriate lighting, effective surveillance, and a clean environment.
The car parks awarded are:
• Buckingham Garden
• The Grove
• Hatfield
• Burnham Lane
• Herschel
• Burlington (new)
• Harrow Market.
Burlington car park was awarded this for the first time, while this is the eighth year for the others.
Councillor Paul Kelly, lead member for housing, highways, planning and transport, said: “We are delighted to have been recognised as having safe and good quality car parks, which have sufficient lighting and measures to deter anti-social behaviour.
“It offers some reassurance to customers that it has been inspected and has measures in place to create a safer environment.”
