The Slough BID and The Slough Hub are excited to announce the launch of a vibrant new initiative aimed at bringing positive energy and creativity to Slough’s High Street.
This special event, set for Tuesday 17 September, will be a cornerstone of the ongoing efforts to transform the town centre into a lively hub of joy, culture, and community engagement for all visitors.
The event will feature the unveiling of a stunning new mural designed to make Slough bright and colourful, the launch of the Slough Town Centre Street Market celebrating local food and craftsmanship, and a series of live busking sessions, street performances, and interactive creative workshops.
Event schedule for the day:
• 11.30am-13.20pm: Enjoy live performances by talented buskers, filling the streets with vibrant music.
• 12.30-1pm: Mural unveiling—be there as we reveal a beautiful new mural celebrating the art and culture of Slough. Meet the talented artists behind the work and enjoy the music of the saxophone player featured in the mural.
• 1-1.30pm: Launch of the Slough Town Centre Street Market - following the ribbon-cutting, join us for tea and snacks to mark the opening of the new Community Art Market.
• 2-5pm - Spend your afternoon enjoying street markets and busking performances by local musicians and artists, keeping the high street buzzing with creativity.
The initiative is all about creating positive vibes and showcasing local talent. As the narrator from our recent campaign put it: “Get ready for a day full of energy and vibrancy, transforming the high street into a hub of creativity!” This event is part of a larger effort by The Slough Hub and Slough BID to bring more excitement, culture, and community spirit to the heart of the town.
Clarissa Parker, the manager of The Slough BID, said: "This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the potential of the High Street. We want to bring people together, and make the high street a place where the community can gather, celebrate, and feel proud of their town."
Vineet Vijh, Founder of The Slough Hub, shared his vision for the event: "The Slough Hub is committed to supporting local creativity and culture, and this launch event is the perfect way to energise the community. We hope this initiative will inspire people to engage with the arts, fitness, and each other, creating a sense of unity and joy on Slough’s High Street."
Busking sessions take place every Tuesday and Saturday, with the Slough Town Centre Street Market running every Tuesday. These events promise something fun for everyone, with street performers and artists offering fresh and diverse entertainment.
