Preparations are well underway for an event for the Slough business community.

The council’s Chief Executive, Stephen Brown, will be hosting the 'Shaping the Future Growth of Slough Business Together Event', to talk about how to grow Slough’s economy and sustain it as a place to do business.

Local businesses are invited to attend to hear from the Chief Executive, as well as the council leader, Councillor Dexter Smith.

The keynote speech will be from Jack Maddalena, Founder and CEO of Naurt, on launching a successful startup. His business has gone on to be featured in the prestigious Forbes magazine.

Arnaud Grandvuinet, from Microsoft, will speak on AI and there will be questions and answers, with Nikki Burns, from The Federation of Small Businesses.

The event is on Thursday 12 October, from 6-8pm, at Arbour Park Football Stadium, Stoke Road, Slough, SL2 5AY, and is in partnership with The Federation of Small Businesses and Slough BID.

Councillor Dexter Smith, leader of the council, said: “I am very much looking forward to this event and the chance to talk to local business representatives. Slough has always been a fantastic place to do business and we need to know about the challenges businesses are facing, to see what we can do to help, and keep Slough as a place people want to invest in.”

Exhibitors will include Berkshire Growth Hub, with information on finance and support for SMEs; Slough BID on helping to make Slough a thriving, safe place to visit, live, work and do business; and the Federation of Small Businesses, with business advice, support and financial expertise.

Others include the council, with procurement and supply chain opportunities; Fedcap, with employability solutions to build communities and Plus X Innovation, with information on the Innovation Hub at FutureWorks.

During the networking evening, attendees can discuss the needs, issues and challenges facing their business and can connect with supply chain opportunities.

The event will also showcase the wide-ranging support available from the council and its partners.
