Residents who wish to continue with their garden waste collections post 1 November 2022 can now sign up to the new scheme on the council’s website.
From 1 November, only households who have registered will receive garden waste collections from their properties.
A year-long subscription costs £50 with subscribers receiving up to 25 collections, fortnightly over the whole year, including across the winter months.
After subscribing, households will receive a confirmation letter with a special sticker to place on their green bin to show, clearly, they have subscribed.
Bins without the stickers will not be collected.
Councillor Mohammed Nazir, lead member for transport and the local environment, said: “The garden waste collection scheme is changing so if you would like to continue receiving green bin collections now is the time to sign up.
“Subscribing is easy – just a quick online form, payment and then instructions and the sticker will arrive in the post.
“With up to 25 collections a year it is very good value for money and saves residents both time and hassle of disposing of their garden waste themselves.”
People who currently have a green bin but do not want to subscribe to the new service can keep their green bin or return it to the Chalvey Household Waste and Recycling Centre.
Residents who do not currently have a garden waste collection can also subscribe but will have to subscribe and purchase a green bin. Subscription remains £50 for the year and a green bin is £45.
Councillor Nazir added: “We understand the cost may be prohibitive for some and if people do not wish to subscribe, they are under no pressure to do so.
“And of course, the Chalvey Household Waste and Recycling Centre will be continuing to take household garden waste for free for anyone wishing to take it there directly.”
