A4 Safer Roads Fund
As part of the Department for Transport’s Safer Roads Fund, the council has been awarded close to £1.7 million, which will be dedicated to making the A4 Bath Road, with the exception of the Colnbrook Bypass, safer for those living, working and travelling in the area.
The work is planned to begin in 2020 and is part of the government’s ongoing commitment to ensure the UK leads the way on road safety.
Road safety initiatives under the scheme are due to include:
- reviewing the road’s speed limit
- speed and red light enforcement
- improving pedestrian crossings
- removing roadside hazards
- road surface improvements
- decluttering the highway network.
