The archives for the historical county of Buckinghamshire, which included Slough until 1974 are held at Buckinghamshire Archives and Local History Library. Records include the County Council's own archive, commencing in 1678, and a wide variety of documents deposited by local authorities, businesses, charities, churches and families, both famous and little-known. The oldest document dates from around 1200 but the most recent is less than a year old.
