The disposal process
Due diligence is required when preparing assets for disposal. This means further work is often involved after properties are declared surplus. This can include:
- securing vacant posession
- obtaining planning permissions
- resolution of boundary disputes
- resolving title issues
- procuring survey reports (asbestos, energy reports etc.) as appropriate or required by statute.
The council reserves the right to dispose of certain types of property assets direct to third parties, such as sitting tenants and adjoining owners where appropriate. In these cases, the council must be satisfied this action is in their own best interests.
