Street parties
Having a street party is easier than you may think, and it will definitely be worth it. By ‘street party’ we mean one that is organised by and for all residents in one or two small streets, without external publicity.
A wider public event in more streets needs extra arrangements. Here is the difference to help you decide what is right for you:
Private Street Party | Larger Public Events |
---|---|
For residents / neighbours only | Anyone can attend |
Publicity to residents only | External publicity outside the street, online and posters |
Public liability insurance not needed (but is recommended) | Public liability insurance needed |
Closure of residential road only | Closure of multiple or major roads, through routes or bus routes |
License not needed if music is incidental, and no alcohol sold |
Licence needed such as Temporary Event Notice |
Self-organised | Skilled organisers |
