By registering your vision or hearing impairment or dual sensory loss, you can access a range of support services more easily.
You may be eligible for the following types of support:
- specialist assessment: A specialist sensory assessment of your needs under the Care Act 2014 to evaluate the specific needs of individuals with sensory impairment, such as visual or dual sensory loss.
- rehabilitation programme and provision of specialist sensory equipment: This can include a programme such as support in adapting to sensory loss, orientation and mobility training skills, coping strategies and techniques as well as risks, hazards and safety awareness.
- communication assistance: Help with improving communication skills.
- daily living aids: Equipment and home adaptations to assist with training in daily activities skills such as cooking, safe pouring, weighing and measuring or labelling. Further information available in the Living independently section.
