Register a stillbirth

Make an appointment

You can register a stillbirth once the medical certificate of the cause of death has been sent to the register office.

If a post-mortem has taken place, the coroner will send all the necessary documents straight to the registrar. You will not need to do anything. Once they have sent this, the coroner’s office will let you know you can contact us to make an appointment to register.

To register a stillbirth, you should contact the register office in the district where the death occurred.

Visit the government’s website to find the right register office.

If the stillbirth occurred in Slough, make an appointment to register a death with Slough Register Office.
