There is a minimum charge of £51 for bulky waste collections.

Fridge, freezer, or fridge freezer collection

  • You can book a bulky waste collection of up to 2 of these items at a time:
    • fridge
    • freezer
    • fridge freezer.
  • The collection of a single fridge, freezer, or fridge freezer is £27.
  • There is a minimum charge of £51 for bulky waste collections. For example, a collection of a:
    • single fridge will cost £51 (due to the minimum charge)
    • fridge and a freezer will be £27+£27=£54.

Other bulky waste items

  • For other bulky waste items you can book a bulky waste collection:
    • of up to 5 items at a time
    • at £18 per item.
  • There is a minimum charge of £51 for bulky waste collections. For example, a collection of:
    • one other single bulky waste item will cost £51 (due to the minimum charge)
    • two other single bulky waste items will cost £51 (due to the minimum charge)
    • three other single bulky waste items will cost £18+£18+£18=£54.

Number of items

A maximum of 5 other bulky waste items are allowed per collection.

Examples of number of items
  • A table plus four chairs count as five items.
  • A three piece suite counts as three items.
  • A bed base and mattress counts as 2 items.
  • A wardrobe is one item (bundled together if dismantled or broken).

Discounts on bulky waste collections

Households where the only occupants are either pensioners or registered disabled are entitled to a £10 discount on two bulky waste collections per year.

Bulky items we can collect

  • Fridges and freezers (maximum of 2 items per collection).
  • Cookers, microwaves, dishwashers, washing machines and tumble dryers.
  • Carpets and underlay.
  • Three-piece suites, sofas and armchairs.
  • Wardrobes, chest of drawers, desks and TV cabinets.
  • Tables, chairs, garden and dining room furniture (free standing).
  • Televisions, vacuum cleaners, videos, computers, monitors and printers.
  • Bed frames, headboards and mattresses.
  • Bikes and exercise equipment.
  • Prams, cots and high chairs.
  • Glass topped tables and mirrors (if safely wrapped).

Important information on booking your collection

Payment is needed at the time of booking. Your booking cannot be changed once you have submitted your request and we are unable to refund if you cancel.

Where to leave your items

On the day of collection, leave your items outside your property where you would normally place your refuse bin for collection.

If you live in a flat or have any access issues, inform us of your circumstances when completing the bulky waste collection form. We will not collect any items from inside your property.

  • Donate items to charity, the local community voluntary sector or second hand shops.
  • Sell items online for free or give them to friends or family.
  • Take items to your local household waste recycling centre.
  • Use a private waste disposal company.
