A guide to school admissions advice

Information for Slough residents on the school admissions process can be found in our comprehensive guidebook entitled "Slough parents guide to admissions." We recommend all parents read the relevant sections of the document before submitting an application for a school place.

A new Slough parents' guide to admissions will be published on this website in August 2017 explaining the admissions process for 2018.

Ways to apply

If you are a Slough resident, you can apply for reception, infant to junior or secondary transfer places online using our Citizen Portal. Windsor middle and upper schools and in year applications must be made using appropriate paper application forms.

Phase transfer

This includes:

  • Starting school in reception
  • Transferring from infant to junior school
  • Transferring from primary to secondary school.

The application process for these transfer groups opens on 1 September each year. Your application will need to be made in the year before planned entry to school.

Other transfer

Windsor middle and upper schools

Slough residents cannot apply online for entry to Windsor middle and upper schools or for in year transfer.

For applications to Windsor middle and upper schools, please complete the appropriate application form and return to the Admissions and Transport team, St Martins Place, 51 Bath Road, Slough, SL1 3UF.  Application forms will be available on this webpage in due course.

In year applications

If you wish to apply for a school place during the school year you must follow Slough's in year application process.

Slough Consortium of Grammar Schools - September 2018 entry

If you wish to apply for a place at one of Slough's grammar schools to begin in September 2018, please refer to the below information sheet.  This provides advice, guidance and key dates regarding the process you must follow to register your child for the 11+ entrance examination.

Appeals

If we are unable to offer you a place for your child at your preferred school, you have the right to appeal. Information on the appeals process will be communicated to you alongside notification of your offer. More details can be found on our school admission appeals page.

The local authority is required to submit an annual report on school admissions to the Office of the Schools Adjudicator:

School admission proposals and consultations

Schools have now agreed their admissions arrangements for 2018.  Full details are available on school websites.  There are no changes to the admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools included in the current Parents' Guide to Admissions above (pages 35 and 75).
