Calling all amateur photographers!

Slough Borough Council is calling on amateur photographers to go snap happy for the Love Slough’s Parks’ photography competition.

As part of a summer-long campaign to encourage people to Love Slough’s Parks, the council has launched a competition to find the best 12 photographs taken of any of the borough’s parks and open spaces over the next month.

The competition is open until 30 July for any and all images taken in, or of, Slough’s parks with the 12 chosen winning images being printed large on canvas and displayed at The Curve for all to see later in the summer.

And then when the exhibition is over each winning photographer will be able to take their canvas and also a complementary copy of a special 2018 calendar which will be created from all 12 winning shots.

Pictures should be 10mb or smaller and 300dpi and entries should be emailed to with the time and place of the image and the details of the photographer.

Councillor Joginder Bal, cabinet member for environment and leisure, said: “Join us and celebrate all that is beautiful and amazing about our parks and open spaces.

“The competition is open to all ages so get snapping and send us your best pics!”

The competition will be judged by the council’s parks team; who have already set the bar high by releasing an image they took at Herschel Park.

Councillor Bal added: “It can be arty, it can be of people, flowers, plants, trees or wildlife, it can be atmospheric, it can be candid or staged – if it is a picture taken in one of Slough’s parks we’d love to see it.”
