The Christmas lights switch on event will feature music, dance and a preview of The Curve’s pantomime Beauty and the Beast.
A 40 foot Norwegian spruce Christmas tree will be installed in the town square a few days after the Christmas lights switch on event. There isn't room for the tree and the event stage in the town square at the same time. After the festive period, the tree will come down in January and be recycled.
A festive family fun weekend is planned in the town centre for 15 and 16 December, where there will be a land train, Santa’s fun animals, stalls, face painting, glitter tattoos, balloon modelling, a Christmas trail and other activities.
