Slough Borough Council (SBC) - one of the smallest unitary authorities in the country but a powerhouse of ambition for its borough and people.

Despite a difficult financial context the council has made no cuts to frontline services instead choosing to invest millions in regeneration, in property, in buildings and partnerships, driving revenue income and improving our town for all.
Just last year the council brought its environmental services provision back in-house after a 15 year private contract and our private sector partnership with Morgan Sindall Investments is renowned for being one of the finest LABVs in the country.
The values at the council are strong - the staff, literally, wear them for all to see. They are proud to be accountable, ambitious, empowering, responsive and innovative and recently every member of staff was invited to theatre-style training to embed the values into their daily working lives.
And staff are engaged; the council has a thriving employee engagement forum, led by a director, with input from all departments and from all levels. They lead the annual staff conference, attended by more than 700 employees as well as ensuring staff voices are heard and listened to and their views acted on.
This year the council is implementing a new corporate learning and development programme to ensure staff are up to speed and ready for all the challenges ahead. Staff are the council’s greatest asset and in Slough the council is committed to investing in them.
