The council’s employee wellbeing board aims to improve the working environment and promote good health and wellbeing for all staff.
A range of initiatives are offered, including cycle rides, annual pedometer challenge, football and netball tournaments, pilates, healthy eating events, diabetes and drinking awareness, and mental wellbeing is promoted.
The council has a free 24-hour employee assistance programme available to all staff which can provide telephone counselling on matters such as relationships, coping with change, legal advice, budgeting and consumer issues.
In addition, as part of the council’s commitment to health, Slough Borough Council is a smoke free workplace.
The aim of the employee wellbeing board is to ensure our staff our “healthy, happy and here”.
The council also has an employee engagement forum and an employees with disabilities forum.
