2019.02.18 Recall: Corleggy Cheese - Cavanbert and Drumlin cheeses

The following notice has been issued by the Food Standards Agency:

Northern Ireland specific

Corleggy Cheese is recalling its Cavanbert and Drumlin raw cows' milk cheeses because they were made from milk from a herd in which animals tested positive for Mycobacterium bovis. Mycobacterium bovis causes tuberculosis (TB) in cattle and consumption of contaminated dairy products can also cause human TB although such infections are rare.

Best-before date: all best before dates up to 14/02/19

Drumlin Cheese
Pack size: all pack sizes
Best-before date: all best before dates up to 13/03/19

Cheeses 

No other Corleggy Cheese products are known to be affected.

Risk statement
Mycobacterium bovis causes TB in cattle and consumption of raw dairy products contaminated with Mycobacterium bovis can potentially cause TB in humans although this is rare. The very young and people with weak immune systems are likely to be more vulnerable to infection.

Action taken by the company
Corleggy Cheese is recalling the above products from consumers. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

Our advice to consumers
If you have bought any of the above products do not eat them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund. If you have consumed these cheeses and feel unwell you should consult a doctor.
